I've actually caught myself a bit by surprise! I'm true to early American country primitives. But having said that, French country decor is a pleasing surprise because of the casual charm created by bringing together colors and textures that add an essence that seems timeless and easy going ~ not to mention creating a cozy environment that is not pretentious. I hope you enjoy a few images I captured on a recent trip.
Cheers!
An amazing folksy horse, early painted chest, and a tavern table in the best old blue-ish green paint..
French grain sacks add warm texture ~ and uses are limited only by our imagination
I'm always delighted by items that you are surprised to see combined to create the look and feel of a welcoming home...

You've Got To Go!
Since my last post, the girls and I hit the road and went to Spring Antique Week in Round Top, Texas. If you haven't been... You've Got To Go! There are several "must do" hot spots and we hit as many as possible ~ Certainly, the Big Red Barn, Marburger Farm, Zapp Hall, Carmine Dance Hall, Royers, and what I call "The Fields of Plenty" which are the fields of vendors selling their wares. We met cool folks, great designers, and found plenty of great finds. I had to share some of the creativity you'll see at Round Top.

Antique Drawers ~ Simply Love Them!
I have to admit… I’m not sure where it started. I only know that I do, in fact, have affection for antique boxes of drawers. I use them for storing keepsakes, jewelry, candles, sewing items, keys... and well, just about anything. When in my home, it doesn’t take long to notice my affection for them.
Probably my favorite treasures have been watch makers cabinets. Right behind watchmakers cabinets are homemade miniature doll dressers lovingly made by fathers for their daughters.
But, as a collector and decorator, I simply enjoy drawers. Whether they be apothecary, spice, sewing, or make-do’s ~ I can’t imagine not having them as part of my surroundings.

It's a "Must Do" Situation... Oh, and so is digging...
If you are like me, there are a few places you stumble upon that make you a bit giggly inside. You just know that beyond these doors or just over the passage-way lay treasures stacked. I call that a "Must Do" situation. It's not always for the faint of heart, because sometimes one must dig to find the really unique stuff. Below are pictures of a few out of the way places that I've found by accident or heard from a fellow antiquer that it was a "must do". I thought I'd share them...
Shupps Grove - Allentown, Pennsylvania
An antiques market since 1962 with acres of antiques, art and collectibles. 717-484-4115
Squash-a-Penny Junction - Doswell, Virginia
To my delight, I thought I walked back in time going through the doors of Squash-a-Penny Junction. Treasures were stacked....

A Great Time at the January Porch Party
We had a great time at January's Porch Party. If you've not been, it's a "must do" when you are in Redmond. Fresh antique finds, catered wine tasting, good food ~ we just simply had a great time. Keep an eye out as I'll soon be posting the date of our next Porch Party to be in February or March. You will want to be here!
Cheers,

The Farm Chicks!
I am very excited to be selling at the 2011 Farm Chicks Antiques Show in Spokane, Washington. This year’s show is June 4th and 5th. I’m already starting to squirrel away my favorite primitives and vintage garden finds for the show. So, we’ll be loading up and heading north – to Spokane. I hope to see you there!
“What’s a Farm Chick?A Farm Chick is a girl who sees the world through rose-colored glasses. She loves her family. She laughs a lot. She's farmgirl meets Fifth Avenue and with a little style, she'll change the world."
